Gameplan #3: Reverse Hybrid
Basic Setup:
- Pre-Recorded Virtual Speakers
- In-Person Speakers
- In-Person Audience
- Audiences Participants Connected with BuzzIt
- High-Quality Projector & On-Site Sound System
Who This Works For and Why:
Organizations that are locally focused, but want to ensure that they have a strong speaker segment. By using pre-recorded video for the remote speakers, you reduce the potential for technical issues when bringing them 'on stage.'
Case In Point:
The University of Notre Dame's IDEA Center was the first to host a reverse hybrid event with BuzzIt. By being able to include speakers who couldn't attend in person, the participants in their flagship McCloskey New Venture Competition were able to form international startup teams that would otherwise never have had the chance to meet at all.
How The University of Notre Dame Hosted The Event:
- All speakers created profiles in advance of the event
- Virtual speakers submitted YouTube links to their pre-recorded presentations.
- The host ran the event from her laptop while on stage
- For in-person speakers, she displayed their BuzzIt profile on the screen behind them
- For pre-recorded speakers, Patti played their presentations on the same projector screen
- Virtual speakers included Zoom meeting links in their profiles
- After the presentations, in-person attendees connected with remote speakers via their Zoom links
